मुनस्यारी
मुनस्यारी एक खूबसूरत हिल स्टेशन है। यह उत्तराखण्ड में जिला पिथौरागढ़ का सीमांत क्षेत्र है जो एक तरफ तिब्बत सीमा और दूसरी ओर नेपाल सीमा से लगा हुआ है। मुनस्यारी चारो ओर से पर्वतो से घिरा हुआ है। मुनस्यारी के सामने विशाल हिमालय पर्वत श्रंखला का विश्व प्रसिद्ध पंचचूली पर्वत (हिमालय की पांच चोटियां) जिसे किवदंतियो के अनुसार पांडवों के स्वर्गारोहण का प्रतीक माना जाता है, बाई तरफ नन्दा देवी और त्रिशूल पर्वत, दाई तरफ डानाधार जो एक खूबसूरत पिकनिक स्पॉट भी है और पीछे की ओर खलिया टॉप है।
काठगोदाम, हल्द्वानी रेलवे स्टेशन से मुनस्यारी की दूरी लगभग 295 किलोमीटर है और नैनीताल से 265 किलोमीटर है। काठगोदाम से मुनस्यारी की यात्रा बस अथवा टैक्सी के माध्यम से की जा सकती है और रास्ते में कई खूबसूरत स्थल आते है। काठगोदाम से चलने पर भीमताल, जो कि नैनीताल से मात्र 10 किलोमीटर है, पड़ता है उसके बाद वर्ष भर ताजे फलों के लिए प्रसिद्ध भवाली है, अल्मोड़ा शहर और चितई मंदिर भी रास्ते में ही है। अल्मोड़ा से आगे प्रस्थान करने पर धौलछीना, सेराघाट, गणाई, बेरीनाग और चौकोड़ी है। बेरीनाग और चौकोड़ी अपनी खूबसूरती के लिए काफी प्रसिद्ध है। यहां से आगे चलने पर थल, नाचनी, टिमटिया, क्वीटी, डोर, गिरगॉव, रातापानी और कालामुनि आते है। कालामुनि पर करने के बाद आता है मुनस्यारी, जिसकी खूबसूरती अपने आप में निराली है।
वैसे तो मुनस्यारी का मौसम पूरे साल भर खुशनुमा रहता है किन्तु अप्रैल से मई और सितम्बर से नवम्बर तक भ्रमण योग्य है। मुनस्यारी में वर्ष के चारों ऋतुओं का आनन्द लिया जा सकता है। बसंत ऋतु में यहां की छटा देखने लायक होती है। जून और जुलाई में यहां काफी बारिश होती है जिससे कभी-कभी रास्ते ब्लॉक हो जाते है। नवम्बर से फरवरी तक बर्फ-बारी का मजा ले सकते है।
मुनस्यारी में ठहरने के लिए काफी होटल, लॉज और गेस्ट हाउस है। गर्मी के सीजन में यहां के होटल खचाखच भरे रहते है इसलिए इस मौसम में वहां जाने से पहले ठहरने के लिए कमरे की बुकिंग जरूर करा लेना चाहिए क्योंकि इस समय में यहां पर देसी और विदेशी पर्यटकों की भीड़ बहुत अधिक बढ़ जाती है। विदेशी पर्यटक यहां खासकर ट्रैकिंग और माउंटेनियरिंग के लिए आते है।
मुनस्यारी के निवासी काफी सरल है और उनका रहन-सहन भी काफी सीधा है। लोग पहाड़ी (स्थानीय बोली) बोलते है और हिन्दी भाषा का प्रयोग भी करते है। यहां के अधिकतर लोग कृषि कार्य में लगे हुए है।
